Client
The client sets sustainability criteria for construction and infrastructure projects. MPG requirements (B&U) and EMVI/ECI criteria (GWW) are used. This is used to steer for lower environmental impact in the chain.
B&U - Building Code
In the B&U sector, the MPG requirement applies to new buildings. This requires developers and designers to calculate the environmental performance of materials and installations. The Building Code sets the minimum limits.
GWW - Tenders / BPKV
In the GWW sector, ECI scores are used as award criteria within EMVI/BPKV. Contractors can benefit from more environmentally friendly material choices. As a result, the client encourages innovation and sustainability.
Tenderer / Contractor
The tenderer provides ECI calculations to meet tender requirements. They use LCA calculation tools to identify the total environmental impact of projects. In doing so, they demonstrate how sustainable their offer is.
MPG - Environmental Performance Building
For buildings, the environmental impact is calculated according to the MPG methodology. This combines material and environmental data into a single score in euros of shadow costs per year. The result determines whether the Building Code is met.
GWW - Project-LCA tools
In GWW, project-LCAs are performed for complete infrastructure works. These tools calculate the ECI of materials, transportation, construction methods and maintenance. The score is used in tenders and decision making.
NMD - National Environmental Database
The NMD contains all validated environmental declarations of building products. This data is used in LCA calculations for B&U and GWW. The database ensures uniformity, reliability and comparability.
Verification (Independent reviewer)
Product maps in the NMD must be verified by an independent expert. This person checks the dataset, method and substantiation. Verification increases reliability and prevents greenwashing.
EPD - Environmental Product Declaration
An EPD is a standardized environmental declaration of a product, prepared in accordance with EN 15804. Manufacturers use EPDs to transparently show their environmental performance. These can be included in the NMD.
Product-LCA calculation tools
Producers produce LCAs to determine the environmental data of their products. These LCAs form the basis for an EPD or NMD dataset. The calculated impacts are calculated over the entire life cycle.
Producer
The producer provides technical product information, process data and energy consumption for the LCA. They work with LCA experts to make their product environmentally insightful. Their data determines the quality of the final environmental statement.
Supplier semi-finished product
Suppliers supply raw materials and semi-finished products with their own environmental impact. These data are included in the LCA of the final product. The quality of this upstream data affects the overall EIA score.
Supplier energy and raw materials
Energy and raw material suppliers provide the inputs for the production process. Their emissions and energy profile form a significant part of the total environmental burden. This data often comes from background databases such as ecoinvent or the NMD.
As a client, you want to be able to support sustainable choices with clear and reliable data. Whether you’re working on policy, design, procurement or tenders: we help you make environmental impacts transparent and base decisions on facts, not assumptions.
With sector-specific expertise and years of experience in LCA and ECI, we support governments, developers, water boards and provinces every step of the way. So you get a grip on sustainability, quality and costs.
Sustainable tendering is becoming increasingly important in tenders. EcoReview helps you lower ECI scores, substantiate choices and make clear where the biggest gains can be made. Our practical approach and sector-specific experience give you insight, overview and a stronger tender.
As a producer, you want to know exactly how your product is performing and how you can improve. We make your LCA, EPD or MKI score transparent, reliable and fully compliant with the applicable standards. This way you meet market and legislative requirements and build a future-proof product range.
A practical example where our LCA and EQI expertise makes a difference.
LCA-studies
For TenneT’s 2 GW offshore wind platform, we conducted LCA studies for several contractors and manufacturers. This provided insight into the environmental impact of various components and design choices to support sustainable decision-making.
Training program
For the municipality of Utrecht, we developed and implemented a training plan around ECI. In this program, approximately 190 employees were trained to apply ECI independently in design, tendering and implementation phases, with the aim of structurally improving the environmental performance of projects.
LCA-studie
For the LCA study of ZEEKR 7X, we analyzed the environmental impact of the materials used to map the environmental performance and support sustainable material choices.
Product Category Rule (PCR)
For TII, EcoReview created a Product Category Rule (PCR) for asphalt. This PCR provides an unambiguous and transparent framework for performing LCA calculations for asphalt products. By making clear agreements on scope, assumptions and calculation methodology, the PCR ensures consistent and comparable environmental performance, applicable within projects, tenders and international contexts.
